The 2020 BECE result was recently released and students have so far been accessing their results from the WAEC portal.

After accessing the results, most of the candidates are looking to know how to calculate their total aggregate score. If you’re a 2021 BECE student or a parent who wants to know the total grade for their wards, then the below article is going to help you do so.

In this article, we’re going to show you how to calculate your 2021 BECE results. So without much ado, let’s begin.

The Ghana WAEC BECE results are calculated using the six best subjects from the candidate’s results.

These best six subjects include the Four core subjects (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science, and Social Studies) and any two best subjects from the electives.

Assuming you’re a candidate with the below results, then this is how you’ll calculate your results.

English Language                                       1                                  Highest

Social Studies                                               1                                 Highest

Religious & Moral Educ.                           3                                 High

Mathematics                                                4                                 Very. Good

Integrated Science                                      2                                 Higher

Twi                                                                 4                                 Very. Good

Info. & Comm. Tech.                                  1                                 Highest

B.D.T & Home Econs                                 2                                 Higher

Now to Calculate your total aggregate from the above results, you will need to first take the Four core subjects into consideration,

English Language                         1

Social Studies                                1

Mathematics                                     4

Integrated Science                        2

Total Core                                  8

Now lets take two best electives also from the above results

Info. & Comm. Tech                      1

B.D.T & Home Econs                    2

Total Elective                            3

From the above results break down, the candidate’s best six subjects will be  (Total Core Subjects + Total Elective Subjects)

=> 8 + 3 = 11

Therefore, the candidate who obtains the above results is said to have grade 11 in the 2020 BECE examination.

Please note that the above results are used for a purpose of explanation. You can use it as a guide in calculating your results in other to obtain your total aggregate score.
